Dry January seemed to be more popular than ever this year: 'The crates of 0.0-pils could not be dragged in'.
Dry January is (almost) over. At least 25,000 people gave it a try and the demand for non-alcoholic drinks increased in many Amsterdam catering establishments. Still, it remained busy. 'There was also a lot of drinking.' Last month, groups of people came into the pub several times around midnight, says Bas van der Geest of Bar Joost (East). “Nothing crazy of course, ready to continue the evening. But to my surprise, they all ordered non-alcoholic beer.”
